Mount Farm Walk
08/01/2010
The walk around Mount Farm took place on the Sunday after Christmas and around 25 members and non members used the time to walk off some excess calories. The ground was very wet and it was noted that a couple of areas were not draining very well so some work for us to do in the future. The grass is well esablished but will not grow now until the weather warms to a more spring like temperature. All in all everyone was impressed with the land and recognised that it has to mature a lot before it becomes ridable. Many thanks to all those who took the trouble to thank the members of the committee for all the work they have done to get the project to this stage.

Another date change
04/12/2009

Due to the world round being held on the 27th June I fear our trial will have to be cancelled as both the clubs Clerks of the course will be up in bonny Scotland. Anyone interested in becoming a Clerk and running a trial let me know as soon as you can before next years fixtures are finalised. I will organise some evening trials when we know how Mount Farm is shaping up.

Dates change
20/11/2009
Please not I have already changed a date for 2010 due to the Adstone venue not being available on the 25th I have moved the date to the 8th August.

Dates for 2010
19/11/2009

The dates meeting took place on Remembrance Sunday and Laurie attended on our behalf as I had to work that weekend. Thanks to him for putting in the time. The events for next year are

Sunday 21st March at Hammonds Park

Sunday 27th June again at Hammonds

Sunday 8th August venue to be decided but could be Adstone

I thought about running a Time and Observation Trial at our Adstone venue for a change. It’s been a long time since one was run in the centre and the Scott seems to get more popular by the year. Let me know your thoughts.

Update on the planting
19/11/2009

The grass has been sown now and with any luck a warm winter will give us a covering of Italian Rye Grass in the spring. The trees can’t be planted until the spring because they would die if done now so we will have to wait. The lack of trees shouldn't hold us up though as long as the soil has some structure we could ride if the conditions are right. I am thinking of organising a walking tour of the ground as the Parks Trust have offered to lend me a key before we sign the lease for just that purpose. How about the 27th December about 10.30am. Please let me know if you are interested.

New link to photos of Hammonds Park Trial
15/10/2009

http://www.wilkinsoneventpix.co.uk/pages/event-photos/trials-events.php

This is a link to Andy Wilkinson's series of photos taken at Hammonds Park earlier this year. If anyone has an objection to their photo being published please let me know and I will ask Andy Wilkinson to remove them. But I think they are amusing and some of them show some good gurning faces.

Results of the Inter Club Trial
07/10/2009

The South Midland Inter Club trial took place on the 4th Oct with; I am pleased to say two teams representing the Buzzards. Andy Chandler, Micky Gallagher and Lydia Wigg with Fred observing were one team and Pete Wikinson, Julian Wigg and Chris Pickup with yours truly observing made a second team. Another team from Oxford Ixion and 4 from the home club Berkhampstead made 7 teams in all.
As it was the first such trial for years I think the home club did a great job in organizing everything the weather was fine the sections a bit on the tight side but all things considered a good event. I got a lot of feedback which I will pass on to Barnet club who are holding the 2010 event.
For the record Berko team of Harry Coleman, Dad Richard and Scott Howlett took the trophy and Buzzards came in 3rd (AC, MG, LW ) and 4th (PW, JW, CP). Full results on Berko web site.

Well done one and all.

Rocks arive at Mount Farm
23/09/2009
Today has been a busy day, 6 loads of rock from Leighton Buzzard, transported by G Moore and paid for by Buzzards, Pushed into place (briliantly) by Alan of CMC and expertly guided by Andy Chandler who gave up a days work to do so. The shape of the practice ground is really coming together now and I have posted some more up to date photo's for you to view. Check out the gallery.

MOUNT FARM LATEST
19/09/2009

Went over to Mount Farm today and took some more photos and thought you might like to see them so I have put a few in the Gallery. The work is coming on quickly now and all the soil has been shifted on site it remains to be moved around a bit to make riding a bit more challenging and the rocks and logs have yet to be bought in. Fencing and car park are still to be done but it looks good so far. Take a look at the gallery and you will see.

PRACTICE GROUND LATEST
The very latest news is the news we have been waiting for the past 5 years. The construction phase at Mount Farm has at last begun. Kerbs have been removed and a site hut installed. I went over this weekend and took some photos. I have put one on the Gallery so you can see the ground at the start of the development!

More to come.
